We, the political university groups, the StuPa, the AStA and the student councils are united in our opposition to the planned abolition of the double subject master’s degree by the university! On June 2nd, the Senate of Trier University will vote on the abolition of all major and minor Master’s programmes in all subjects in favour of compulsory core subject programmes. The university’s plan is to make enrollment in a double subject Master’s impossible after the 2024 summer term and to phase out the model completely after the double standard period of study. We oppose this plan across all committees and groups, which we see as a massive encroachment on students’ freedom of choice and a severe restriction on their free academic development, and for which we see no compelling reason. We do not want to accept that this project should be pushed through against the will of the student body. Therefore, we invite all students of Trier University to attend the public meeting of the Senate on June 2nd at 2 pm in the Audimax and to join us in opposing this plan.
